Gucci’s 3rd Eye – Behind The Scenes of Surreal Gucci Show F/W 2018

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Gucci Show Fall/Winter 2018 – Milan Fashion Week

With Alessandro Michele at helm, Gucci became a fairy land where the unchained imagination of the creative designer is running wild, blowing up the fashion scene at Milan’s Fashion Week, Fall-Winter 2018/2019, with his surreal looks, making out of Gucci’s show THE show you’re sorry you couldn’t attend – for it was like a movie, with a very cool script, written out of the inspiration dragged from movies like “The Legend of the Baby Dragon in a Jar” and “The Tale of Tales” starring Salma Hayek. Every show is a story, but this one took 6 months to prepare in a titanic work of the artists involved in the making. It is known that in high fashion couture it may take up to 300 hours of handwork for just a single dress, or 30 for a bag – 6 months turned into reality Michele’s world, with the help of Makinarium – a Rome-based production centre – and now we have baby dragons and iguanas instead of bags, horns, 3rd eyes, and simulacrum of own heads – “We are all Doctor Frankenstein of our lives,” he told Vogue. “Nature has not given us an untouchable body.”

There’s a clinical clarity about what I am doing. I was thinking of a space that represents the creative act. I wanted to represent the lab I have in my head. It’s physical work, like a surgeon’s” – Alessandro Michele said. “We exist to reproduce ourselves, but we have moved on. We are in a post-human era, for sure; it is under way. Now, we have to decide what we want to be,” the designer continued.

Let The Love Grow – Lykke Li Stars In Gucci’s New ‘Fashion Film’

A new stage has begun for the intriguing Gucci woman with the arrival of Alessandro Michele, the label’s new creative director. The new fashion film for Gucci Spring/Summer 2015 features a protagonist of exception, Swedish singer Lykke Li – Gucci’s new muse.  She embarks on a particularly creative journey that leads her to the composition of a beautiful song – Just Like A Dream – a song where the Gucci handbag is present in every scene almost like an indisputable piece of its own plot.

A beautiful love story between the brand and its new muse that we decided to tell through some of the most beautiful lyrics composed by Lykke Li …

“Morning will come. My heart will break. So before you replace me, lie with me one last time.”

(Just like a dream)

There’ll be no rest for the wicked. There’s no song for the choir. There’s no hope for the weary. If you let them win without a fight.”

(No Rest For The Wicked)

“Hands down, I’m too proud for love. But with eyes shut, it’s you I’m thinking of.”

(Little Bit)

“Sadness is a blessing. Sadness is a pearl. Sadness is my boyfriend. Oh, sadness I’m your girl.”

It’s Confirmed – Alessandro Michele Is Gucci’s New Creative Director

www.astairwayfashion.com
Alessandro Michele on the runway after the Gucci show

The speculations concerning Frida’s substitute arrived to an end. Alessandro Michele will occupy the post of Gucci‘s creative director, and Marco Bizzari – Gucci president and chief executive – reported to WWD that “Alessandro is not a big name. He is under the radar. He is known in the company as being the most talented person and is very much respected by the team. He knows Gucci inside and out.” [ Alessandro will have] “total creative responsibility for all of Gucci’s collections and its brand image.”

Alessandro joined Gucci back in 2002 following a stint as senior accessories designer at Fendi. Afterwords he became Frida Giannini‘s associate in 2011. “Alessandro is definitely the choice; he is not the temporary choice. Alessandro is by far my personal choice, and that of François-Henri Pinault. We share the same vision” – Bizzari continued.

So all the voices about a comeback of Tom Ford, or Riccardo Tisci have been put to a rest. After redesigning the entire men collection for Fall/Winter 2015.16 and garnering favourable reviews, we can’t  wait to see Alessandro’s vision for women’s fall 2015 line. Good luck Alessandro!!

Is Tom Ford Replacing Frida Giannini at Gucci?

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Frida Giannini

Gucci‘s creative designer Frida Giannini has left the fashion house one month before expected after a new chief executive officer took the reigns of the label. It is about Marco Bizzari, he started as CEO this month replacing Patrizio di Marco, former CEO of Gucci and Frida’s partner.  “I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding contribution that Frida Giannini has made to Gucci’s legacy during her nine-year tenure as creative director,” Bizzarri said.

The men’s and women’s shows will be presented as planned on January 19 and February 25, but for the fashion watchers Frida Giannini won’t show up to take her final round of applause.

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Tom Ford

Rumours about Frida’s potential substitutes have already started to circulate, and first up is Alessandro Michele, currently the head accessories designer of the Italian label. Others presume a comeback of Tom Ford, and wish it i guess, for the designer, after ruling the fashion house for a decade ( 1994-2004), defined an era for Gucci and created the empire that is today. You can’t go wrong with Tom Ford in charge at Gucci, but having already a personal label worth nearly a billion pounds, marrying his partner Richard Buckley and having Alexander, their two-year-old son, i wonder if he would even say yes to a project of this scale. But when it comes to Tom Ford anything is possible.
