Italian Cuisine – At The Table With Missoni Family

The Missoni Family Cook Book - Rosita Missoni

The Missonis are well-known for their colorful, vivid and dynamic vision of life which they all share and express so lovely through fashion. But they do have another passion – the love for cooking! It’s been in the making for seven years and now it has finally seen the light – The Missoni Family Cook Book at Assouline Editions– a gathering of 130 family recipes passed down for four generations.

Francesco Maccapani Missoni, together with his gorgeous grandmother, Rosita Missoni and with the help of his mother, Angela Missoni, came up with the idea, only from a strong desire to preserve family traditions. “The idea was for everyone in the family to have their own recipe book from the last two generations. In 2013, my grandfather passed away and my grandmother was 80 at the time, so it made me start thinking that in the future when she passes away, these traditions could get lost,” Francesco said to WWD.

People buy Missoni to be part of our lives, to feel like they’re part of the tribe. They relate to the brand because they can see we are simple people who enjoy life. We maintain a balance between the real world and fashion,” said Maccapani Missoni.

We are really seasonal. At home, we only use fresh, local, seasonal produce, and most herbs and vegetables come from our garden,” says Franscesco Maccapani Missoni.

Fashionable Macaroni – Dolce & Gabbana Designer Pasta

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Pastificio Di Martino Dolce & Gabbana

It seems that after the Spring/Summer show when the pasta theme was revealed, Dolce & Gabbana continue their tribute to the Italian excellency. A delicious partnership between two “Made In Italy” giants – the iconic fashion house and family run pasta brand, Pastificio Di Martino – spaghetti, penne and cannelloni  a la italiano. Now you can host a super fashionable dinner for your family and friends but consider one pack costs $ 110, in which case I can’t help but acknowledge that the days where “pasta for dinner” called for little more than 500g of pasta which you can pick up for 80 cents and chopped tomatoes, are long gone. Buon appetito!

A Clutch For Your Sweets? Olympia Le-Tan for Pierre Marcolini Chocolate Boxes

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Olympia Le-Tann and Pierre Marcolini’s Chocolate Boxes

Olympia Le-Tan bags are a well-known accessory in the fashion world, both for their creativity and the fine craftsmanship – an artist, that decided to unite forces with another one, coming from a different world – the sweets land. I’m talking about the recent limited edition collaboration of the designer with the famous pastry chef, Pierre Marcolini – a legend in Paris and a couturier of the chocolate. To delight the sight and taste, they came up with two chocolate boxes and two cheerful messages:  “Elles n’ont qu’un mot à la…” (Only one thing on her mind…) and “J’ai les yeux plus gros que la ventre” (I have bitten off more than I can chew.) The designer herself chose the delicious chocolates inside and the macaroons from maison Pierre Marcolini.

You will find them starting September, in Paris ( where else? ) at the Pierre Marcolini‘s  stores and in the new boutique that’s about to open, at 235, Rue Saint-Honoré.
