I’ve always loved dressing up. Style is not a formula for me—it’s instinctual. I know right away if I like something or not” – Harrier tells InStyle

I’m drawn to roles that address social issues and injustices in the world. I think those of us with a platform have a duty to talk about all the fucked-up stuff that’s going on,” she says. “I would feel really uncomfortable watching things go by and just posting pretty selfies. I feel very fortunate to be acting at a time when women and minorities are getting more of a voice. We’re in the middle of a moment where barriers are starting to be broken down. But I just want them to be smashed all the way.”

Milan: Prada-Marchesi Pastry Opens Up in Via Montenapoleone

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Prada Pastry – in Via Montenapoleone, Milan

Marchesi was founded in 1824 and is one of the most famous commercial activity in Milan.  Situated in a historic building, the layout of which had not been changed, Prada, the majority shareholder, would have paid 8 million euro for it. The project was created by architect Roberto Bacciocchi, who built it around the main element of any pastry – sweets.

How closely Miuccia Prada followed the implementation of the project can be seen in every detail: chairs in the style of the sixties, silk wallpaper with jacquard patterns similar to Miu Miu prints, the 120 square meters of shop is covered in dark brown marble, with marble counter and shelves in cherry wood and glass, a large mirror and of course the benches where a triumph.

The new bakery of via Montenapoleone will offer two new formulas for a cream with dark chocolate and hazelnuts without sugar, all the desserts being prepared daily on the spot. Cakes, pralines, biscuits and croissants – all served the Prada way! Sweeeeeeeet!

Charles James “Beyond Fashion” Exhibition at The Met

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Charles James 1906-1978

Charles James ( 1906 – 1978 ), British born designer, is known as “America’s First Couturier”. The Met is dedicating an exhibition to his great talent and fashion sense – Charles James : Beyond Fashion – open to public the 8 of May. Splendid vintage gowns of the designer will be on display, tribute to his highly structured aesthetic and the mastery of cutting. The visitors will be able to enjoy an exhibition of elegant dresses of an exquisite execution and a complex fashion design. Unfortunately, back in time, Charles James died in complete solitude and penniless due to business fall outs. Don’t miss it, it’s a parade of flawless vintage couture!

Fashion specialists and fashion students never forgot James, but for the general public he is not known. There is no brand, no global presence, so what we can do is reintroduce people and look brilliant doing it because he was so brilliant,” Mr Koda said.

Chanel Comes To Saint Tropez

The Chanel pop-up shop in St Tropez

Chanel is setting up camp in Saint Tropez, for the 5th year in a row – a tradition that the Parisian house intends to keep seeing the history that connects the fashion house and the stylish, chic city. Gabrielle Chanel created a lot of her designs dragging inspiration by the Mediterranean atmosphere that lays in Saint Tropez. The summer pop-up store will be in the centre of the town, until the 6 of October, in the gardens of La Mistralée mansion. The mansion is decorated in Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Paris-Dallas 2013-2014 spirit. The collection itself can be found in the store along with the Chanel Spring/Summer 2014 collection. The accessories will not miss from the display and the house has some surprises for their Saint Tropez clients announcing a range of beauty products that will be unveiled.

Domenico and Stefano – The Designers of Dolce&Gabbana Found Guilty Of Tax Evasion

www.astairwaytofashion.com
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the designers behind the Dolce & Gabanna fashion house, have been found guilty of tax evasion. Despite their popularity and fan’s support the Italian Court decided to uphold last June’s guilty verdict that saw the designers both sentenced to 20 months in prison for committing tax evasion. They are not the only ones that went through court from the fashion industry : Valentino and Roberto Cavalli were accused as well of tax evasion, eventually cleared, and this year Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli joined the trend, being targeted by the taxing authorities. Italy is thought to forfeit an estimated $150 billion a year in unpaid taxes, the third highest rate in Western Europe.

Coming back to Domenico and Stefano, the crime is said they committed goes back in 2004 when the duo sold their Dolce & Gabbana and D&G brands to the Luxembourg-based holding company Galdo SRL. They have always firmly denied the accusations brought to them and have appealed last year’s decision with their legal representative, Massimo Dinoia, saying : “Those issues that concern the image of the fashion house and the creation of products, while all that pertains to the commercial phase, such as the organization and the administration of the company structures, concern other offices and individuals.” For now Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are said to be shocked.
