Preparing food has never been so exciting and of course, colourful! Milan Design Week hosts some of the newest items born out of the collaboration of two giants: Smeg and Dolce & Gabbana. Inspired by the history and tradition of Southern Italy and the Isle of Sicily, the renewed collection of “Sicily is My Love” is completely dedicated to the homeland of Domenico and Dolce, charming Sicily – painted ovens, refrigerators and hoods, toasters, coffee makers, mixers – all the bright Sicily can be in your kitchen if you want to. If you don’t have the opportunity to go on the holiday in the south of Italy so often, then Italy comes to you, and it brings the most beautiful sicillian patterns one can imagine – huge lemons, tender blue ornaments, bunches of grapes and, of course, flowers. You can see the new items at the exhibition which will be held in Milan until April 22.
It seems that after the Spring/Summer show when the pasta theme was revealed, Dolce & Gabbana continue their tribute to the Italian excellency. A delicious partnership between two “Made In Italy” giants – the iconic fashion house and family run pasta brand, Pastificio Di Martino – spaghetti, penne and cannelloni a la italiano. Now you can host a super fashionable dinner for your family and friends but consider one pack costs $ 110, in which case I can’t help but acknowledge that the days where “pasta for dinner” called for little more than 500g of pasta which you can pick up for 80 cents and chopped tomatoes, are long gone. Buon appetito!

Nature plays an important role for Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer collection – floral motifs got a very special attention from the two designers, embroidered red roses blossomed on the bags and dresses, models’ hair was adorned with fresh flowers – a hibernation which came to an end, reflected also in the line of accessories of the Italian brand.
The limited edition collection of sunglasses, embellished with rich and precious crystal insects and flowers – all applications in Swarovski crystals, set in frame one by one – showcases three models, with acetate frame, grey gradient lenses, and fabulous colours. An enchanted forest where small enchanted creatures lie on romantic flowers.
No less important is the exclusive packaging consisting of an elegant case in black velvet and a luxury matching box. So luxurious!
The manicure – is the final touch that helps women complete their look. Hands may have a certain expressiveness, and the right nail polish gives the hand gestures an appeal. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana couldn’t miss out on this important detail so they created a wide range of lacquers, 41 to be precise, available starting February. We have beige-brown, scarlet, purple, blue, green, pink and warm colors of gold – all stunning. All for you to see below!
Just when you thought that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana couldn’t explore their beloved Sicily anymore here comes an eccentric collection for Spring/Summer 2015 born from a period of 200 years of the beautiful island’s past, between 1516 and 1713, when Sicily was ruled by Spain. Fiery red carnations, Castilian gold, and an abundance of lace – Dolce & Gabbana’s new idea of a femme fatale.
Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce have been found innocent of tax evasion. A trial that goes on for four years now. That’s how much time took the Italian court to come to a resolution regarding the two designers.
Even if they were found guilty, in May this year, and sentenced to 20 months of prison they appealed the court’s decision and found not guilty in the end.
“We have always been honest and we are extremely proud of this recognition by the Italian Court of Justice,” Dolce and Gabbana said in a statement. “Viva l’Italia.”
The Dolce & Gabbana brand has released its most popular bag in twelve new color variations – marshmallows, candy, strawberry yogurt, pistachio, praline – a new version of the legendary Sicily Dolce & Gabbana bags. For the upcoming season the designers used soft pastel shades, the representative theme of the main collection for this fall. It’s not just the colour that vary but also the leather – depending on the bag we see crocodile textures or python skin – and the strap that is adjustable and removable.
A real gift for the admirers of the fall season, the limited edition Mix Sicily Collection is available to buy online for $ 1,445.00.
Each season, the team of Dolce & Gabbana designers adds a limited edition capsule collection to the brand’s eyewear collection. The novelty, entitled Almond Flowers, is dedicated to Sicily of ancient times where the almond flowers bloom abundantly, a motif used in the summer collection of the brand. A romantic collection, where the high quality craftsmanship and artistic skills are left to do their wonderful job – the hand painted delicate pink flowers and the tiny gold leaves, laid one by one along the frame, make out of these glasses a collectible item. See it for yourself!
This summer, designers are taking inspiration from the works of pointillist artists – they created a special technique of blending the colours. It is a technique with few serious practitioners today, and is notably seen in the works of Seurat and also Andy Warhol‘s early works – and from the 50’s costumes when the dots were at the peak of popularity. Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Dior, Saint Laurent and many other designers have decorated their accessories for Spring-Summer collections with polka dots, combining the charm of yesteryear in a very modern and fashionable way.
